Frequently Asked Questions about membership with the All Canadian Pet Services Network:

Q. Does the membership cost include Pet Sitters Insurance?

A. No. The Pet Care Professionals Liability Insurance offered by Horizon Insurance is available to members at an additional premium.

Q. Can I pay by monthly installments for insurance coverage?

A. At this time, Horizon insurance requires payment in full for coverage. Payment arrangements can be made directly with Horizon in the form of post dated cheques, subject to their approval.

Q. I've closed my business/changed my mind. Is membership refundable?

A. Due to the considerable time and expense in processing each membership application, ACPSN does not provide refunds for membership. If, at any time during your membership year, you opt to cancel or suspend your membership for any reason (maternity leave, suspending your business etc.), you will have the opportunity to reinstate your membership at any time for the duration of your membership term. All you need to do is contact us again when you are ready.

Q. I forgot to renew my membership by the due date, or I did not renew then but I'd like to now. Do I have to pay for the initial membership again?

A. No. If you do not require another membership kit to be mailed to you, you can renew or reinstate your membership at any time after your renewal date at the renewal rate, plus a fee of $10.00 for reinsertion of your listings into the web site.

Q. Will my membership ever be suspended by ACPSN?

A. We ask that all professionals abide by our Professional Standards. We reserve the right to cancel or suspend the membership of any individual who is proven to be in violation of these standards once an investigation is complete. Your membership will not be suspended without adequate notice for you to respond to any complaints.

In addition to violation of our Professional Standards, there are instances where ACPSN will review the appropriateness of your membership. ACPSN provides many tools to pet care professionals to build your business, and offers you the opportunity to use our literature, logos and forms in operating and promoting your business. Misuse of any intellectual property of ACPSN (i.e. selling our forms or tools for profit, removing copyrights and republishing newsletters, sharing or selling our ideas and programs to other organizations etc.) will result in termination of your membership. As a member, you are granted access to tools and privilages that are not made available to the public, and we ask that you maintain a certain confidentiality.

Q. Will my membership application be rejected by ACPSN?

A. Generally, we accept applications from all pet care professionals. Once your application is received and your membership fee is paid, you are a member. All certificates/cards etc. will be issued based on this date.If and when membership is contingent on any additional certifications/qualifications, you will be advised of the time frame during which to provide us with this information.

ACPSN reserves the right to reject membership applications at our discretion from professionals who are in violation of our policies in any way. ACPSN receives information from pet parents regarding companies that are not members and retains this information. If there is a concern regarding the appropriateness of your application, you will be advised immediately.

ACPSN reserves the right to refuse applications from providers who have fraudulently claimed to be members of ACPSN in their advertising prior to the application being received.

If your membership application is rejected, payment will be immediately returned to you along with an explanation.

Q. Are my employees / Independent Contractors entitled to receive my benefits of membership?

A. Yes, your employees and IC's are entitled to certain benefits of membership.

Both may enroll in our programs (such as the Pet Health+, Smiling Pets etc.) under your company name.

An employee is entitled to participate in discussions in our member forum, and will be granted access to the member's area at your discretion.

As the company owner, you are responsible for the conduct of your employee's and IC's and their use of the member tools.
